Lisa, founder of One Step Ahead Parents, sitting on a couch at home

Hi,I'm Lisa.

I'm a psychology graduate, a mom of boys, and the creator of One Step Ahead Parents. I started this because I kept missing stuff; picture day, spirit week, the form due Tuesday.

My story, in three parts

01The unraveling

Somewhere between the parent portal, three classroom apps, PTO emails (I sit on the board, so I see them from both sides), the lunch menu PDF, and our family group text, the wheels would come off. And I noticed something: no one had taught me a system for this.

02The prototype

So I built one. Then I tested it on my own family. Then I refined it using everything I knew about executive function and behavior change. The tools you find here are the result; practical, repeatable, and designed for real parents with real schedules.

03The mission

My psychology background, and everything I've learned about executive function, cognitive load, and behavior change, is baked into every tool. These aren't generic planners; they're built around how the parent brain actually works when it's managing too many inputs.

04, what you'll find here

Every tool follows three quiet rules.

01

Non-judgmental

You aren't behind. Real life is messy. These tools meet you where you actually are.

02

Rooted in psychology

Built on executive function research, externalize what your brain shouldn't have to carry.

03

Practical, not perfect

Simple checklists you'll actually use beat elaborate systems you won't.

05, the mission

“Helping parents create systems that reduce overwhelm and make school life easier.”
